Come join us for two dynamic classes every week, each spanning 1.5 hours, focused on immersive Arabic learning. Through a total of 3 hours of engaging sessions, participants will explore the nuances of the Arabic language, culture, and communication. These days off are designed to offer the freedom to travel, learn, and create memories beyond Hebron, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching experience

Place of Teaching English Program

It takes place in the heart of Palestine, in the city of Hebron. Hebron, Al-Khalil in Arabic, is located in the southern part of the West Bank. It is 30 km (19 miles) south of Jerusalem. The population of Hebron is about 300,000 persons who reside in the city, and about another 500,000 who live in the surrounding villages.

Teaching English Program Content

  • Teach English in Palestine program simply includes teaching English to Palestinian children ages 6-12-year-old, adults, and community members (you can choose which target group you want to work with).
  • You will be focusing on the conversational part of the language which includes how to deal in situations, how to answer questions, and how to know the very important words that someone needs in certain subjects.

How long can I participate in the program?

Our volunteers can choose to participate in the program for a period of one to three months. Whatever length of time you choose, we will support you so that you have a great and unique experience at our Center and in this wonderful city of Hebron.

What if it’s my first time teaching English?

  • If this will be your first time teaching English, donā€™t worry, our local teachers will be there for you. They will definitely guide, assist and provide you with all needed materials.
  • In addition, at the beginning of the program, you will be attending English classes to see how teachers manage their classes which give you the time to be prepared.

What are the benefits of the Teach English program?

By participating in this program, you get the following:

  • Teaching Palestinian children, adults, and community members and interacting with them.
  • Learn how to manage an English class and learn new methods of teaching English.
  • Experience the hospitality of Palestinian people and Palestinian culture by being part of the Palestinian centerā€™s educational, social, and community activities.

  • Accommodation, including either staying with a local host family or at our 8th-floor apartment. Private accommodation is also available with extra fees.

  • Local visits to different places e.g. old city, and meeting with Palestinian families in Hebron city.

Who can apply?

  • The Palestinian Center has hosted people who have come from a myriad of countries, such as the USA, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Colombia, France, Japan, China, Chile, Switzerland, Russia, Germany, and many more. 
  • Since this program focuses on the conversational part of the language then this program fits those who have or have no experience in teaching English, what you need is to speak English very well and have management skills.
  • The Center welcomes all people who are 18 to 75 years old to apply to the Teach English in Palestine Program.  Academic or professional degrees are not required to join the program. The Program may be especially suitable for students who are studying programs in teaching and education, as well as English Literature.

When can I apply to the Program?

  • We work year-round. Volunteers and interns decide when he/she is available to participate.
  • We are very flexible when it comes to starting and ending dates.

Do I need to know how to speak Arabic?

  • No, volunteers are not obligated to know Arabic. The Center will provide you with 3 hours of Arabic lessons each week with one of our teachers.
  • The participant can choose either to study Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) or Spoken Arabic Language (known as Ammyia) once they start their program.

Can I add more Arabic hours to my hours in the program?

Yes, volunteers can add additional Arabic language instruction hours. Each extra hour costs $20.00. Please mention this in your application. 

Can I combine another program?

Yes, this program can be combined with one or more of the other internship or volunteer programs that the center offers.

May I extend my program duration while I am there?

Yes, volunteers are allowed to extend their participation period. In this case, volunteers must inform the center coordinator at least one week before the end of the current program.

What is the application process?

  • First, send us an email asking for the application form.
  • We send you the application, you fill out the application and send it back to us.
  • Our team reviews your application. We invite you for an interview by means of a Skype/WhatsApp call.
  • We will send you a confirmation form which you fill out and return to us.
  • We prepare and send you the Invitation Letter and the Contract.  We will also send you the invoice for payment, which will include all the information regarding payment options.  
  • You will sign the contract and make payment in order to reserve your place in the program.
  • We will send you an Orientation Booklet and travel instructions. These two items will provide you with all the information on how to get to Hebron and contact the Center. One of our coordinators will provide his/her contact number within an email sent to you.
